CHAPTER SEVENTY ONE

"How dare he? How dare he?! How dare he!!" Tegwen yelled, stalking back and forth angrily on the second story of Megavolt's hideout.

"Hey --" Megavolt stretched out on his couch, watching Tegwen as she stomped the same stretch of wooden floor repeatedly. "Ducky, calm down."

"How can I?!" She screamed, facing him suddenly. "He ruined my night! That arrogant, egotistical monster!" Tegwen sat down in front of Megavolt suddenly with a hard thud.

"So, uh . . ." Megavolt scratched his head. "Did you -- er -- do you . . . have . . . uh . . . You know . . . D'ja have anyone back in Duckburg?"

Tegwen glanced up at Megavolt after staring at her hands for a moment. "Yes." She lied.

He frowned but kept a silent watch over the duck sitting on the floor in front of him. Tegwen looked away from him sadly, and after a short pause, answered honestly. "No, I don't. I didn't. I mean . . ." She stood up again and slowly resumed pacing the same bit of floor. "He never kissed me . . . Hugged me, though. Once." She clenched her teeth and continued. "He hugged me once and he probably knew full well that he'd never see me again . . . Oh!" Tegwen whipped around, pointing at Megavolt, her eyes gleaming. "And if he realized how old I was at the time . . . My God, he'd probably have blown a gasket!"

"You mean like Giz--"

"No," she interrupted bitterly. "I didn't have anyone back in Duckburg!" With that, she grabbed her backpack and headed for the stairs.

"Oh, what now?!" Whined Megavolt.

"I'll be back," Tegwen hissed, wrath glowing in her blue eyes.

"Yeah, whatever."
