CHAPTER SIXTY SEVEN

"West. Her name is Katellah West," Tegwen muttered, searching the darkened backstage area for a row of dressing rooms she assumed would be there. Thus far, the labyrinth of catwalks, passages, and setpieces had been far less glamorous than she had imagined. "Keep looking. There's gotta be some place back here with, y'know, stars on the doors."

"So far, I've found a few trap doors and a stack of sandbags. Ooh, there's a pile of rope. H-hey Tegwen?" Megavolt stuttered nervously. "Did you hear something?"

Tegwen shook her head. "What now?"

"I thought I heard a motor or something . . ."

"You're probably imagining things, Megs. It's just backstage equipment or something." Tegwen replied. Turning the corner, she found herself in yet another hallway of doors. But unlike the hallways that led to two broom closets, three restrooms, and a prop storeroom she had barged into, one of these doors did have a star on it. "Found it!" With a perky smile, she knocked on the door politely. "Miss West?" She called.

A pretty red-haired duck answered the door. "Hello?" She asked.

Tegwen smiled at her. "Is Miss West here?" She asked hopefully.

"Miss We -- oh! Katellah's just getting changed. I'll tell her she has a fan waiting."

"Can we come inside to wait, please?" Tegwen requested. In the darkness behind her, she could make out at least two pair of footsteps and that rumbling Megavolt had referred to earlier.

"Okay, okay." The girl opened the door a little wider allowing them entrance. "Come on in." She paused. "Kattie, you've got visitors!"

The actress who had played Esmeralda stepped out of her changing room with her black wig in one hand. "Ariella?"

"Yeah, this girl came to see you, but she asked for Miss West."

"Miss West?" The brunette duck muttered. "Now who would still know me as -- ?" She looked up from Ariella, spotting Tegwen and Megavolt by the door.

"Miss West?" Tegwen asked in a tiny voice.

"Dear me!" Tegwen's former teacher replied, an astonished grin spreading across her face. "Tegwen?! Is that you?"

Tegwen squealed with delight. "You recognize me!"

"Whoa, hold the phone! This is Tegwen?" Ariella gasped. "Kat, the last we had heard --"
