CHAPTER SIXTY FOUR

As the curtain dropped, the ensemble cast of The Hunchback of Notre Dame took their bows. On stage, the drama had finally ended for the night. In the theater, on the other hand, it had only taken a brief hiatus.

Tegwen shot a quick glance at the two F.O.W.L. agents, noticing that Gabriel was once again boring Steelbeak with another vent about their conversation with Tina. Perfect! They're both preoccupied!. With an excited glint in her eyes, she whispered to Megavolt, "So, you're coming backstage with me, right?"

Megavolt groaned. "Do I hafta?"

"Yes!" Tegwen snapped, standing from her seat quickly. "I'm not going by myself!"

"But Gizmoduck is sure to be guarding the door!" He complained.

"But Gizmoduck is sure to be guarding the door?" Tegwen mocked him, rolling her eyes. "You baby. Let's just get outta here before those two notice we're gone."

"Now who's being a little scaredy --" The word "cat" stuck in his throat as his cohort gave him a disturbingly angry look. I gotta remember to watch myself around this one, he thought. I'm starting to get the feeling that one of these days she's gonna snap and take out half of St. Canard! Yet, against his better judgment, Megavolt found himself following Tegwen through an unattended stage door.
