"Um. . . How exactly does someone run over another person?" Tegwen furrowed her eyebrows. "Was he on a motorcycle or something?"

"He has a wheel instead of feet!" Megavolt whined. "And it seems like any time I bump into him, he runs over my foot."

Tegwen shook her head. "So he's like a robot or something?"

"I don't know." Megavolt shrugged. "I don't care. But I made him sorry."

Slowly, Tegwen inspected the room, happy to avoid Megavolt's stare. "You . . . Made him sorry? What did you do to him?"

"I zapped him." Megavolt smiled wickedly. "Put him back over a block. That should keep him from interfering with our plans."

Startled, Tegwen pulled her gaze off of a tiny window on one wall, watching the sunlight stream in through it. "What plans?" She asked anxiously.

"The ones with Negaduck."

Tegwen groaned, sinking to the floor. "Oh. Right. Him." After a moment, she looked up from her hands. "So why does it sound like you're actually more frightened of this Gizmoduck than of Negaduck?"

"Gizmoduck's put us all in jail before."

Tegwen nodded. "Ahhh. Got it. He's a good guy." She drew in a breath. "So then what do we do about Negaduck?"

"Avoid him at all costs," Megavolt answered quickly, as if he'd had to do it plenty of times before.

The phone rang just then, making Tegwen cover her head with her hands and whine piteously. For such a tiny sound, it was shrill and enormously painful to someone with a hangover.

Megavolt answered it before the second ring. "What?!" He snapped as a greeting. Tegwen glanced up at him in time to see his sneer turn to a frightened gasp. "Uh . . . Yeah, boss, yeah . . . Right away."

Tegwen's heart sank. Well, if he hacks us to bits, at least I don't have to live with the pain anymore. At that point, she wasn't even sure if she meant the hangover or the pain of losing her parents.

Megavolt slammed the phone down and she jumped in her spot, startled. "What was that?" She asked quietly, trying to control her shaking.

"Negaduck wants to meet with us," Megavolt whispered. "And he did not sound pleased."
